Funding silos are a stubborn fact of foundation life, but as a result critical issues often fall between the cracks. In our role as an intermediary, NEO has played a role to ensure funders of all types can transcend narrowly focused funding silos. Through NEO, our funders have supported critical, intersectional work that bridges a wide variety of issues, such as criminal justice and immigrant rights; racial justice and school reform; and human trafficking and domestic violence, reproductive rights and human rights. In addition, we take seriously the need to create connections for social justice organizations across sectors necessary for deeper, more lasting change.
