NEO Philanthropy is entering an important new chapter with the launch of the search for its next President and CEO.
After more than 25 years of extraordinary leadership, President Michele Lord will retire at the end of 2026. Michele has been a guiding force in nurturing strong, sustainable, and transformative movements. Her vision, care, and steadfast commitment to both partners and the broader philanthropic community have shaped NEO in profound ways. She has also partnered closely with the Board to design a thoughtful leadership transition that sets the organization up for continued impact.

This search comes at a pivotal time. The next President and CEO will lead NEO through a complex and evolving social and political landscape, strengthening movement infrastructure, supporting leaders working toward justice and equity, and advancing the organization’s strategic priorities. The role calls for a values-driven, strategic, and inspiring leader ready to engage deeply with communities, partners, and the field.
The Board has partnered with Melissa Madzel of Do Good Connections and Carlyn Madden of Good Insight to guide a comprehensive and inclusive search process. Their goal is to identify a President who will serve as a passionate ambassador for NEO’s mission and bring a track record of bold, thoughtful, and values-driven leadership.
